Farmer’s Wife QAL Block 58

Well this has been a troublesome little block!

Making it straight after #57, which had lots and lots of triangles, I thought this one would be easier, but I ended up unpicking five different times!

First, sewing the dark blue little triangles onto the light blue big triangle I managed to sew one on the wrong side, so I had seams on both sides of the fabric.

Then later after I’d sewn the side units onto the centre pinwheel, pressed the seams open with the iron and sat back to look at it I thought “Ooh, it’s going to make a big square once all the sides are on!” This thought was quickly followed by “Hang on a minute, I don’t remember it making a square in the picture,” and the realisation that I’d sewn not one, but both sides on upside down. Doh! If you look carefully at the photo you can see the little holes on the outside edges where that side was originally sewn on.

Perhaps the answer is that I shouldn’t sew whilst watching TV!

But now that it’s finished it looks pretty with its centre pinwheel and the outer star. I really like how all the blocks are looking together too, but there’s still lots to make 🙂
