Divided Basket

This Divided Basket pattern by Noodlehead has been on my to-do list for a long time.

I was originally going to make them to put baby bits it, but, well the baby’s now one so I don’t really have so many bits anymore!

The fabric I’ve also had for a long time. It’s a print I got from Spotlight, Australia, and was also originally destined for some baby sewing – namely a new changing bag for me! I never did get a new changing bag, and the old one’s doing just fine. I also think that having made several other bag’s since I bought it that it’d be worth getting some heavier weight fabric to make it from, which left this fabric needing a new purpose.

I have used all three prints in my basket. The stripes for the lining, the aqua owls print for the divider, handles and the front pocket and the boxy owl print for the exterior. I’ve quilted the exterior because my fleece and interfacing is the non-fusible kind and I wanted to just use up things I had in the cupboard.

Once I’d actually quilted the outer pieces it all came together pretty quickly. I was a little dubious about how the top is just pressed and top-stitched, but actually it looks good now it’s finished.

I’m going to use my basket to hold all the tools and things I need for the Farmer’s Wife QAL, which I’m already behind on because I have yet to start. But now I’m organised and the last of the things I ordered has arrived I’m ready to begin!
