Modern QAL – February Block

It’s February – oh wait, no it’s April!

It’s about time I caught up with posting my blocks for the Modern QAL, since this is the last month before putting all the blocks together!

February’s block was called Parisian Star, and like all the blocks comes from this book:

Here is my finished block:

Modern QAL – January Block

It’s January! And there’s only four months of the Modern Blocks QAL left!

So everyone who knows me will know that I can’t possibly have made made my block this month. Living in a house with no table/chair/desk and with my sewing machine and all my fabric in a box ready to start its 10,000 mile journey to a new home I’d need some superhuman powers to have made it in the last two days!!

But when I made last month’s block, suspecting that this might be a possibility, I got ahead. So actually I made all the rest of my blocks, since there was only four, which is cheating a little bit, but now I can still link up when everyone else does – yay!

All of the blocks for the QAL come from this book:

This month’s block is called Everything Equal, and Alyce’s tutorial can be found on Blossom Heart Quilts’ blog.

I looked at all the colours in the fabric I’m using for my blocks, and couldn’t resist making it a rainbow!

I think it looks really pretty!

Modern QAL – December Block

This month is month 8 of the Modern Blocks QAL!

The block this month is called Crosswalk. The tutorial for it can be found on Actually Amy’s blog.

I chose just two colours of the fabric I’m using to make this block – purple and orange, with the plain around the corners.

Modern QAL – November Block

I was eager not to leave this month’s block until the last minute, and have managed to complete it early on ๐Ÿ™‚

This month’s block is called Pogo Stick. The tutorial for it can be found over on the Sew Delicious blog.

My version is a quite colourful, with more than one fabric. I read the information about the block in the Modern Blocks book:

and in there it suggests placement for different coloured fabrics. I thought that the block would fit in better with the others I have made if it used more than one colour.

Easy As ABC QAL: Catch-Up

Easy As ABC QAL

It’s been a big catch-up month for me this month. Instead of five letters for the Easy As ABC QAL, I’ve done twelve! But it means that I’ve now caught up and have completed all the letters from A to T ๐Ÿ™‚

Modern QAL – October Block

It’s now six months into the Modern Blocks Quilt Along – halfway! Only six more blocks to go!

Here are all my blocks so far:

May – Follow the Leader:

June – Spool:

July – Megan’s Star:

August – Quatrefoil:

September – Escalator:

October – Best Friends:The October block is the one I have just finished. It was a nice quick one to put together.

I’ve been looking forward in the book to see what other blocks are coming up.

I’ve been thinking about which colours to keep for which blocks – they’re going to look pretty ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are all the blocks so far together.ย You can see everyone else’s and vote for your favourites over onย And Sew We Craft.

Modern QAL – August Block

I’m catching up this month with the August quilt blocks I missed.

First up is this block for the Modern Blocks Quilt Along from And Sew We Craft, a twelve month quilt along of blocks taken from this book:

The August block was called Quatrefoil.

I looked through the different colours I had in the spotty fabric and picked out the ones I had used least often in the previous blocks, so that when all twelve are complete they’ll be evenly spread across the quilt.

Easy As ABC QAL: K, M and O

Easy As ABC QAL

I’m taking part in the Easy As ABC Quilt Along, making five letters a month so that by Christmas I’ll have a finished alphabet quilt.

Except that I’m a bit behind because we went away, so I’ve finished A-E, missed all of August and have just done K, M and O of September’s blocks.ย October will be a big catch-up month!

I’m sticking with red and blue as my background colours, with different ‘boy’ fabrics for the letters.

K:ย M: I’m quite proud of this one, I think it looks pretty good ๐Ÿ™‚ย O:
