Farmer’s Wife QAL Block 13

This block was my first attempt at sewing Y seams on a sewing machine. These are seams that turn corners, whereas normal patchwork is made in blocks where everything is joined in straight lines.

The pieces in this blockr are on the same scale as all the other blocks I’ve made so far, meaning all the triangles and squares can be cut with Perfect Patchwork template set A. I definitely love my rotating cutting mat for cutting the pieces for all these blocks! I don’t think I would be able to cut them as accurately is I tried to turn them by hand to cut them out.

I didn’t find the seams on this block particularly scary or hard. As long as I was careful to stop exactly at the turning points they seam to have come out just fine 🙂

I am following along with the Farmer’s Wife Quilt Alongs on Gnome Angel and Very Kerry Berry.
