My goal for this month’s A Lovely Year of Finishes was to make Christmas sacks in time for Christmas Eve. I was number 6 on the linkup.
I hand sewed the red felt letters onto a rectangle of white felt. Then I machine sewed the white felt onto the Christmas fabric.
Each sack is lined in plain fabric – I sewed these two pieces together first to create one large rectangle, so that there are no raw edges inside when the sack is sewn together.
Each sack has cord threaded into the channel at the top and has a toggle to help keep it closed when filled. I heated the ends of the cord over the hob to seal them.
We now have a set of four sacks – these three and the original one I made:
All ready for Christmas Eve!

Congratulations.
I’ve been thinking about reusable items, and this might just be it.
Those are great sacks!!! Congratulations on meeting your goal!! I hope Christmas was blessed and that the new year will bring many finishes!!
I love this idea. Perhaps I can turn some of my Hanukkah fabric into sacks for next year’s gift giving.
What fun to finish all those great sacks!
