I made a couple more t-shirts for the children to wear over the summer holidays.
After the success of the ones I made during Kid’s Clothes Week, I used the same two Fishsticks Designs patterns.
For the big one the size 6 from the Charlie Tee and Hoodie Pattern. He was given free reign of all the jersey in the sewing cupboard and chose the pink. I picked the grey ribbing for the neck. I turned up about an extra half inch in the hem from last time, which makes it a better length on him.

For the small one, the 18-24 month size lap tee from the Wee Tot Collection. I had a bit of an accident cutting out the pieces. When I came to baste the front and back together ready to sew in the sleeves it didn’t look right at all. When I looked at the more carefully I realised I’d cut out two backs instead of one back and one front. Instead of throwing away one of the pieces I cut out two fronts, and made two t-shirts instead of one. One with short sleeves that I’d already cut out, and cut out long sleeves for the second so that they weren’t identical.

The long sleeves turned out well, so I can see some more long sleeved t-shirts being made for them both in the winter (not that it’s really the weather for short sleeves here in summer at the moment – they’re always covered by a jumper!)
